Hi there. I'm a designer that draws on cross-industry experience to challenge conventions and craft innovative paths forward.
Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much.
When I joined Whova, the Organizer Dashboard was disorganized and inconsistent, with new patterns and UI elements being custom-made and introduced nearly every release. This approach made design and implementation increasingly difficult, as designers constantly rediscovered old patterns, slowing progress. Recognizing the need for a cohesive approach, I identified early on that a design system would be a valuable investment. Partnering with another designer, we advocated for its benefits. After three months of discussions and securing approval, the design system became one of the most impactful contributions I've made to the team and company.
I chose to build a design system for the Organizer Dashboard first due to its complexity. As the most intricate part of our product, it encompassed hundreds of unique pages and over 100 navigation menu items, making it a priority for standardization and improvement.
To accelerate our impact, we began by focusing on forms and form fields, as these were among the most frequently used elements in our product. This approach allowed engineers to immediately implement the new form components once they were finalized. Given the inconsistency in our forms, our first step was to audit every page with forms within our platform. We then categorized existing form components into similar use cases and developed new components to replace the multiple variations used for the same purposes.
After six arduous months, the initial design system was finally complete. Since then, we've seen a boost in velocity for both the design and engineering teams by at least 30 percent.
As the product design manager of Whova, I led a team of 6 designers in creating intuitive and user-friendly solutions. My role involved collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders, to ensure our work aligns with business goals and user needs. I oversaw the entire design process, while making sure our designers had the support they needed to achieve the best outcomes. By fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and open communication, I drove the development of solutions that delivered exceptional user experiences and supported Whova's growth and success.
As a Senior Product Designer at Whova, I was tasked with designing solutions that solve critical business and customer problems across the entire Whova product. I worked collaboratively with my design team, product managers, researchers, data analysts, marketing, and engineers to pinpoint problems, ideate solutions, ship, and iterate.
At Whova, I’ve had the privilege of being a part of many key features and projects. Among my most impactful are:
Solara Medical Supplies approached Seamgen to address a significant issue in their current pipeline. Rapid business expansion had resulted in a 30-day backlog of unprocessed patients and customers. As the design lead for this client, I was tasked with developing a software solution that seamlessly integrated with Solara's intake, internal and external sales, document review, quality assurance, management, and pharmacy departments and streamline the company workflow from intake to delivery of medical goods.
I designed, launched, and iterated on the m-mamma platform for the Vodafone Foundation. The goal was to create an Android tablet solution that swiftly and effectively connected pregnant mothers and children with local and hospital transport services in Lesotho, South Africa.
I designed the messaging, challenges, leaderboard, and sign-up features for a health and wellness platform aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle. This platform leveraged gamification to encourage individual and group activities, making the pursuit of wellness engaging and motivating.
Real Estate Lab is a SaaS platform that allows real estate investors to manage, analyze, and broker deals with other investors for multi-family properties. My main task was to translate all the functionality of the existing spreadsheet analyzer into a web app.
